Eztiaan Groenewald is an Aquatic Biologist with over 13 years of professional experience and 10 years of consulting experience in the environmental sector. He holds professional designations in both Alberta (P.Biol) and British Columbia (R.P.Bio), and his main areas of practice include Aquatic Biology, Environmental Construction Support, Environmental Impact Assessments, Erosion and Sediment Control, and Regulatory Permitting.

As a Project Manager and Aquatic Biologist with Green Plan, Eztiaan leads projects which involve multiple disciplines, including hydrology, engineering, ecology, and aquatic biology, for development (i.e., road, rail, transmission, and pipeline), industrial and residential development sectors. He is also responsible for the development of Aquatic Environmental Assessment Reports, Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plans, Sedimentation Control (ESC) Plans, and Care of Water Plans for Green Plan clients. Eztiaan has a comprehensive working knowledge of Provincial and Federal Environmental Acts, Policies, and guidelines (e.g., Water Act, Fisheries Act, Public Lands Act, Species at Risk Act, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Alberta Wetland Policy, Alberta Codes of Practice etc.), and the approval/permitting processes involved with each. This enables him to efficiently complete applications under these pieces of legislation and support the regulatory requirements of Green Plan’s clients.

Eztiaan’s technical skills include field data collection (across multiple disciplines), Geospatial Information System (GIS) analysis, technical data analysis and interpretation, technical report writing, and environmental construction support. These skills are applied to projects that require environmental baseline assessments (i.e., fisheries, wetland, benthic invertebrate, zooplankton, phytoplankton, epiphytic algae, and water quality), construction monitoring support, post construction monitoring, and fish rescue operations.
