Kent Nuspl, B.Sc., P.Biol., R.P.Bio., CPESC, QAES is a Senior Aquatic Biologist and Project Manager with more than twelve years of experience in environmental consulting. Kent has extensive experience in fisheries, water quality, and ecology-related consulting, with project experience across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Kent holds professional designations in Alberta (P.Biol.) and British Columbia (R.P.Bio.), as well an internationally recognized Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) designation. Kent is also a qualified aquatic environmental specialist (QAES) in Alberta.

Most of Kent’s work has focused on baseline data collection, permitting, and monitoring for linear development (rail, roads, pipelines, utilities), hydroelectric infrastructure, coastal infrastructure, mining, and municipal projects. As Senior Aquatic Biologist and Project Manager with Green Plan Ltd., Kent assists clients in their regulatory applications and permitting for a wide variety of projects, with a general focus on projects in or around water, as well as providing project oversight and senior guidance during all phases of a project’s lifecycle. Over the course of his career, Kent has worked closely with clients from the provincial, municipal, and private sectors, as well as not for profit groups and Indigenous groups.

Kent’s technical skills include desktop and field-based ecological assessments, a wide array of fish and lower trophic level sampling methods, GIS analysis, federal and provincial permitting, erosion and sediment control assessments, and technical writing. Kent has used these skills to develop Environmental Impact Assessments for both small and large-scale projects, DFO authorizations and offsetting plans, Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plans, Environmental Protection Plans (EPP), Care of Water Plans, Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Plans, Environmental Management Plans, Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist’s (QAES) written recommendations and specifications, and various baseline assessment reports and monitoring reports.
