Wildlife Assessments

Threats to the environment are a growing concern for many industry sectors. For this reason, our qualified and experienced biologists conduct Wildlife Assessments on your projects before any movement takes place to help minimise risk of these threats becoming more severe or causing damage to land development projects that is costly to repair. Green Plan LTD. is here with you every step of the way.

Green Plan offers the following wildlife assessments services:

  • Species at risk assessments
  • Wildlife sweeps assessments
  • Breeding assessments
  • Migratory bird surveys
  • Amphibian Surveys

We take many precautions when assessing a situation for environmental damage as well as animal safety issues involving migratory birds or regulated species on private property.

Overview of Our Wildlife Assessments:

Since 1989, we’ve hired experts in wildlife assessment to ensure that all assessments follow all federal and provincial regulations. We have developed a comprehensive understanding of the Migratory Bird Convention Act (MBCA), Species at Risk Act (SARA) & Wildlife Act so you don’t have to worry about any legal concerns when it comes time for your project’s completion.

Approximately 450 species of native birds are hosted on a seasonal basis in Canada. The  Migratory Bird Convention Act (MBCA) is a Canadian law that protects most migratory birds from destruction. We ensure that clients comply with the regulations and policies outlined by Environment and Climate Change Canada to ensure the protection of birds,  their eggs, and their nests.

The Species at Risk Act (2002) was implemented to protect wildlife – ensuring wildlife does not disappear. This law provides recovery to wildlife that no longer exists in the wild and are endangered or threatened due to human activity. SARA also protects certain species that may become endangered or threatened. Green Plan carefully assesses projects to ensure clients are following all policies and regulations within the  SARA act.

The Wildlife Act protects and conserves wildlife areas in Alberta. This act protects projects that may interrupt wildlife habitat critical to migratory birds and/or other species that may be endangered.
